"Rehabilitation following Spinal Cord lesions. Spinal Pain Management"

Academic Year 2023-2024

The Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens organizes & operates for the academic year 2023-2024 (F.E.K.: 4150/21-09-18 Second Issue, Decision No.: 888/17-07-2018 & F.E.K.: 484/08-02-21 Issue Two, Decision No.: 532/20-01-2021) the Master's Program (M.S.) "REHABILITATION FOLLOWING SPINAL CORD LESIONS. SPINAL PAIN MANAGEMENT", lasting for two years, and leading to the awarding of a Postgraduate Diploma (M.Sc.). The administrative support of MSc is practiced by the School of Medicine of the N.K.U.A.

The Master's Program courses will start at the end of September 2023. The program includes four (4) academic semesters. In particular, the first three semesters include theoretical and laboratory courses and the fourth semester is dedicated to the preparation of a diploma thesis and clinical practice.

What does MSc offer

Obligations of postgraduate students MSc

  • Observance of excused absences at a rate of 15% of the total teaching hours of the program applies to all postgraduate students. Attendance is taken at the beginning of the lesson and during breaks.
  • Mandatory physical presence of all MSc students. in the laboratory-clinical courses and in the exams of each semester of the MSC studies.
  • Compliance with the financial obligations per semester of studies is a necessary condition for participating at the exams of each semester, as well as for the completion of their studies
  • Elaboration of a diploma thesis. Choosing a topic up to the 3rd semester of studies and preparing it within one to three semesters after the end of the 3rd semester. The topic of the thesis must be relevant to the courses of the program, may be either an original research or a literature review. In the case of literature review, it is pointed out that, its publication in a foreign language International or Greek scientific journal is favorable, before receiving the degree. As far as the Greek journal is concerned, it should be included in international scientific database such as Scopus, Web of Science and Google scholar.

 

Candidates accepted to the Study Program include graduates of the Department of Medicine and other departments of a related subject (Departments of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Biology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Sociology) and related Departments of the country or Departments of recognized foreign institutions are admitted to the Master's Program, as well as graduates .E.I. related cognitive object.

 

Registration at the PMS implies a contribution for each student to the relevant operating costs, which amounts 1.500 Euros per year of study (750 Euros per semester of study). Total: 3.000 Euros for the duration of the four (4) semesters. Tuition is paid at the beginning of each semester in one (1) installment. Once the fees have been paid, they are non-refundable.

Necessary Documents:

  1. Application for Participation in the MSc (special form posted on the website of the MSc),
  2. CV,
  3. Photocopy of two sides of the police ID,
  4. Copy of Diploma or Certificate of completion of studies,
  5. Detailed rating of undergraduate courses,
  6. Copy of Certificate of English Language Proficiency, minimum level B2, or sufficient certified by S.E. of the MSc, knowledge of the candidate's English language (if more than one certificate has been obtained, attach only one),
  7. Letters of Recommendation,
  8. Copies of Scientific Publications in peer-reviewed journals (if available),
  9. Copies of Evidence of professional or research activity (if available),
  10. Certificate of Recognition of a foreign academic degree and
  11. Copy of Master's degree & relevant analytical score (if available).

For students from institutions abroad, who do not present a certificate of recognition of an academic degree from D.O.A.T.A.P., the following procedure is followed:

The Assembly of the Medical School appoints a committee responsible for determining whether a foreign institution or the diploma of a foreign institution is recognized.

The selection of the Postgraduate Students will be based on the above supporting documents and after an interview of the candidates by the Program Coordinating Committee.
